Although I’ve been using the Hype Machine for nearly ever (ok, its been like two years, but in terms of the internet that is forever), I’ve never had many a friend on it.
So, uh, if you’re a Hype Machine user, add meh!
Kelis - “4th of July (Fireworks)”
‘Well hot damn’ is all I can say about Kelis’ new album. This is some seriously good dance music from a seriously fierce lady who’s been all over the place musically over the years.
The lead-off single ‘Acapella’ produced by David Guetta came out a few months ago and its been a favorite of everyone from crazy house DJ’s to snobby indie blogs. But this (4th of July) is definitely another notable track. And I kind of love the irony in the fact that this album was released two days after Independence Day… although this premiered as a single in the UK last month.
Another track you gotta hear is 22nd Century, produced by none other than Boys Noize. (Okay fine, I uploaded it for you so you can just snag it for free: http://www.mediafire.com/?4r5lwmnjunq - you’re welcome)
I think you all should just do yourselves a favor and download the whole album, Flesh Tone. It came out today (Tues, 7/6) and thus is surely all over the internet for free.

Crystal Castles - “Baptism”
My love-hate-mostly hate relationship with Crystal Castles will reign forever. This makes me feel angsty and want/need to pop an Advil, yet this is the third time I’m listening to it. Nearly everything inside me writes this off as “not music”, yet I can’t help but smile knowing that this will be played at summer concerts and HypeMachines everywhere. I’m also imagining the a capella version of this that I’d want to someday attempt.
I dislike it very much, I enjoy it a little. Peculiar, how very peculiar…
112 plays10 playsDan Black - “U + Me =”
// British electronica has been on a roll and 2k10 seems 2 prove no different. This time its youngin’ Dan Black, who has been making waves in the UK scene with his sample-aholic tunes that combined with heavy synth action and bright indie pop lyrics make for some pretty fun music. This is quite evident on the track “U + Me =”.
Look 4 him more in the coming yr as he re-releases and non-digitally releases his album UN in the US even tho he’s from the UK (just wanted 2 throw another U_ in). Nd look 4 him currently as a part of iTunes’ weekly freebies.
