TEDx talk tearjerker warning.

But it’s worth hearing their stories.  These girls are incredible women.  I’ve had the great pleasure of seeing one of them, Ivy - who begins sharing her story at about 11 minutes in - every Tuesday when Homegirl Café sells their food at the USC Farmers Market.  Not only does she make me delicious salads, but she always has a smile and remembered who I was after just the first time I ate their earlier this year.  I love having the opportunity to chat with her, but have never heard her full story like this.  So powerful.

You go, Ivy!  And thank you to Homegirl Café and Homeboy Industries for their incredible work here in Los Angeles.

here in tumblr form is a collection of things that I love / find worthy of sharing.

- this list includes lots of, but is not limited to, Downtown Los Angeles (click here for more DTLA), 30 Rock, food, cheese, New York City and Paris, great music and post-ironic artifacts.
