But THIS SHIT gets passed???
This bill, H.R. 2681, pretends to be about ‘preserving jobs’ when really it’s solely about allowing cement factories to emit as much pollution as they possibly want.  This bill nullifies the EPA’s rules that would have curbed air pollution nationwide.

Cement plants rank in the top five of the biggest emitters of mercury air emissions in the United States. Toxic mercury air emissions deposit in oceans, lakes, and streams, where it accumulates in fish and other wildlife, eventually affecting humans. Mercury is a potent neurotoxin that harms children’s developing brains. At current levels, EPA analysis indicates that by 2013, plants would be emitting as much as 18,000 pounds per year.

This is such serious bullshit.
It truly astounds me that the Republican party is too narrow-minded to understand the concepts of “THE FUTURE” and “HEALTH”.
More pollution, ESPECIALLY MERCURY for god’s sake, = more sick people = higher medical bills and rates of illness = more people looking to the government for help = more government intervention needed = exactly what Republicans hate.

Democrats have designed this bill to fail — they’ve designed their own bill to fail — in the hope that anyone who votes against it will look bad… This whole exercise is a charade that’s meant to give Democrats a political edge in an election that’s 13 months away.

- Mitch McConnell (Senate Republican leader)

Dear Mitch,
You must be joking.  You are the WORST.  Good god, I cannot articulate the anger this extreme bullshit makes me feel because you know for a solid fact that THAT IS EXACTLY THE IDIOTIC HATEFUL GAME THAT YOU ARE PLAYING AGAINST OBAMA.

Fuck you.

Yes, exactly.
This guy….  sheesh.

Yesterday, in an apparent attempt to rally their caucus, the Republicans played a clip from a cops-and-robbers movie called The Town. In the scene they chose to inspire their House freshmen, one of the crooks gives a pep talk to the other, right before they both put on hockey masks, bludgeon two men with sticks, and shoot a man in the leg. Literally, in the movie, the protagonists say people are going to get hurt, but they go ahead and do it anyway. Ladies and gentlemen, this is your House Republican majority.

—Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), criticizing House Republican leadership for using violent rhetoric (AGAIN) to inspire Republican representatives to legislative action.

That would be the same House of Representatives from which Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is still on medical leave after being shot by a violent asshole who did not grow up in a void.

Violence begets violence. Hate begets hate. It’s one big circle until someone finally steps in and says enough is enough.

This isn’t okay for members of our government to be doing.
