Every generation of Americans has brought our Nation closer to fulfilling its promise of equality. While progress has taken time, our achievements in advancing the rights of LGBT Americans remind us that history is on our side, and that the American people will never stop striving toward liberty and justice for all.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2011 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. I call upon the people of the United States to eliminate prejudice everywhere it exists, and to celebrate the great diversity of the American people.

“Donald Trump is here tonight. Now I know that he’s taken some flack lately, but no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald. And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter. Like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?”
- President Obama at the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner
‘Da man.
It still amazes me how often unacknowledged this all goes.
Please reblog and share this with others. Thanks, Americans.
“Whether you agree or disagree with what Democrats have done in the first two years of President Obama’s presidency. They have freakin’ done it!” - Rachel Maddow
I’m all for giving credit where credit is due and Nancy Pelosi did her part, sometimes alone as on Health Reform, to become the most successful Speaker of the House in recent history. It certainly was not perfect and at times very frustrating but the Democrats did their fair share in the last 2 years (for better or worse.) If President Obama manages to get the START Treaty through Congress, and it now seems likely that it will go through, he’ll have managed to completely turn the tables on Republicans heading into 2011. Also, just to add some historical context, President Obama’s latest approval rating is slightly higher than former President Bill Clinton and former President Ronald Reagan’s approval ratings at the same point in their respective presidencies.
